Learn To Skate For The Hockey Player

Fall Session (12 weeks): September 27 - December 20 (no class Thanksgiving weekend) Saturdays @ 3:00pm – 4:30pm / Cost: $130.00 (Ages 4 & 5) / $180.00 (Ages 6 & up)

This is a fun program for children with little or no skating experience. The goal of this program is to have children gain confidence on the ice while developing their skating abilities. This is accomplished with the use of fun games and group skating drills. The Learn to Skate children will be divided into groups based on ability. The early beginner
group is for brand new skaters who have never been on the ice or have very little on ice experience. Initially, they will be given the opportunity to move around on the ice with support until they gain the confidence to go on their own. Once they can get around fairly well and remain upright, they will be mainstreamed into the next stage of
learning.

This stage incorporates games designed to give the children confidence while hopping, jumping and skating with
some speed on the ice. They will begin to learn proper skating stride, how to stop, and skate backwards. Children will be moved up throughout each session as soon as the instructors feel they are ready to move on. Completing this Learn to Skate program should allow your child to graduate to a beginner hockey or figure skating program. There is no age limit, although the majority of skaters range in age from 3 & up. Equipment Required: HEC Approved helmet and face shield. NO EXCEPTIONS.
